Information/Discussion Items: John H. stated that Amador County has requested copies of our museum brochures, which prompted a decision to order 1,000 more brochures.
Bob Ash handed out a copy of an article written by Ted Shannon on the Sierra Nevada Timber Industry. John H. and Mike will edit the article for approval at the next board meeting. If approved John H. will make the decision as to how to use the article.

Minutes: It was moved by John Hofstetter, seconded by John White, to approve the minutes of the 5/24/16 meeting as presented. The motion carried.

Treasurer’s Report: The Treasurer’s report was presented by John White. John explained that because of the purchase of a lot of inventory in May the expenses exceeded income. It was moved by John Hofstetter, seconded by Sharon Ash, to accept the report as presented. The motion carried.

USFS: Carl Graves reported that the fire crews have been busy cutting hazard trees in the campgrounds. They have been trying to sell the trees but no one is interested. Trees have been cut as well as cottonwoods planted at the Mule Deer Foundation at Big Rattlesnake Creek. Beetle kill trees are also being salvaged.

Exhibit Report: Mike has delivered 6 stands for the outside signs. Mike and John H. are working on the narratives for the signs, which include the set-dial (inside) and the LeRoi winch and acetylene generator outside. The back wall of the diorama has been completed by John W. and needs to be installed. The DVD needs to be reset so that it doesn’t shut off on its own.

Jamboree Report: Bob reported that the agreement with CCWD has been signed. There has been a snag with the insurance regarding liquor liability but is being worked out. It was agreed to hold a Jamboree meeting on Thursday, 7/7/16 at 1:00 p.m. Helen, Bob and Sue with attend. It was moved by Pat Bradley, seconded by John W. to give Steve Kafka $500 for his services at the Jamboree. Pat volunteered to donate 20% of the $500. The motion carried. Bob is working on a poster for the Jamboree with pictures, logo, and pertinent information.

Website Report: Several new things have been added to the website. John will be meeting at the museum with Bill Kuphalt’s daughter who will be donating some pictures, etc. The newsletter should be ready to go by mid-August. A mailing crew will be needed to address and stuff envelopes, etc. Nancy Muleady Meckam has offered to write a grant for financial support through SPI. It was moved by John H., seconded by Pat to have her go ahead with the grant writing. The motion carried.

Company Store: For inventory purposes, John W. stated the sale of T-shirts should be recorded with a description as to whether they are museum shirts, Jamboree shirts, etc. Bob passed around a picture of a tote and shirt that will be available in the store. Because many of the flashlights don’t work it was decided to give them away for free. It was suggested that the price of the license plate frames be lowered to $2.00. We need to consult with an accountant as to whether or not company store sales are considered a donation, for tax purposes. Items that don’t sell well in the store may be put on a sale table at the Jamboree. It was also suggested that these items could be given as prizes for a kids contest at the Jamboree. Helen, John, and Bob will meet after the 7/17 Jamboree meeting to set prices of store items and determine what items need to be cleared out. It was also suggested that we get a wood sculpture from Jeff Rapetti to raffle at the Jamboree.

OLD BUSINESS:

Picnic Table: It was decided to ask Jeff Rapetti if he would build a picnic table for the museum deck. A plaque with Jeff’s name would be affixed to the table.

Weed Eating: Bob and Richard Small will take care of the weed eating prior to the Jamboree.
